Retriever Health Clearance Updates

Health Clearances - black lab duck dog by Mike Hosier We've made some great improvements on how you enter your dogs health clearances and the options that are available to you.

We’ve been hard at work to improve ProLitter wherever we can, one of these areas is health clearances, more specifically how data, and what data is added for retriever health clearances. Since we launched ProLitter in 2024 you as members were asked to enter both your dogs OFA results and an OFA numbers for each clearance type. Based on user feedback, and using the website ourselves we felt like we could do better and reduce the data requirements so this is what we did. We don’t need to be redundant, you must post a link to OFA so we felt we could cut the data entry in half and remove the need to an OFA number field leaving a single field for each for the result, after all it’s the result people are looking for anyway. We also took this once step further and reorganized the layout for clearances making them easier to look at and add your data.

New Health Clearance Fields Added

We think you will like the updated interface and appreciate having all these clearances added

Next we added some new fields, these are filed under “More Health Clearances”. These new fields are breed specific health clearances that are commonly done, but not may not be considered standard from the breed clubs. For example, we’ve added more fields for genetics such as Ichthyosis 1 and Ichthyosis 2, NCL, and Thyroid for Golden Retrievers, and we’ve added CNM, PRA-prcd, PRCD, and EIC for Labrador Retrievers. We think you will like the updated interface and appreciate having all these clearances added.

Add BVA Health Clearance to ProLitter

You can now add BVA hips and elbows on ProLitter

BVA Clearances - (British Veterinary Association)

Last but now least we’ve added BVA health clearance options for Hips and Elbows. This has been a long-time request from some of our loyal early adopters and we are happy to now offer this. The way BVA Hips and Elbows are added is very simple, hips for example, you’d select the dropdown menu as you did before, but you’ll not see an option that reads “Use BVA”. When you select this new option you will be presenting with new fields to enter scored for left, right, and total hips. For elbows we’ve added BVA scoring the same Elbows drop down menu as these are very similar to OFA but with differences in terminology.

See something, say something, that goes against our standards.
